WHY I MAKE MONOCHROME PORTRAITS OF ANIMALS
I feel an emotional connection to animals: their beauty, grace, power or originality touch me. I do think the animals have different personalities and my goal is to expose it, most precisely through their eyes.
Working in monochrome, with neutral backgrounds, I can highlight that personality and even make it more evident. I mostly choose to paint in acrylic because it allows me to work very detailed layer on layer of paint quickly and I finish with touches and backgrounds in oil.
My final goal is to maintain a fun, empathetic and pleasant communication with the spectator that will admire them and make us reflect on its essential existence.
